Asian PVC FOB China: Record-lows for FOB China amid rising freight rates / FOB China lower offer as freight rates increase / Local China reaches lowest level since April 2020

As container freight has increased, offer prices for Asian polyvinyl chloride have dropped to a record low. The ethylene-based PVC fell by $3/mt to $642/mt F.O.B. China on Dec. 11. Meanwhile, the carbide-based PVC remained stable at $630/mt. The prices of both products are at historic lows. FOB China PVC assessments began on March 1, 2022. Prices for FOB China fell in the week beginning Dec. 9, due to a combination of sluggish sales and rising container freight. According to market sources, the current container freight rate from China to India is around $95-$100/mt compared to the $80-$100/mt in previous weeks.
