India PTA: Weak Demand Continues to Pressure Prices / Pre-festive shopping remains weak / CFR China-India Spread narrows to $74/mt

Purified terephthalic acids CFR India fell $17/mt during the week ending August 30, due to a slowdown in demand and lower freights. Buyers in India reported that market fundamentals are weak, as pre-festive buying is still elusive. A buyer in India said that demand is weak. The demand usually picks up around this time, but the situation hasn't improved. Perhaps buyers are waiting for things to stabilize before ramping up their operation rates.
