India PTA: CFR prices rise on stronger feedstock / PTA contracts for 2025 are still unresolved / Downstream polyester demand moderate - Jan 16, 2025

Purified terephthalic acids prices in India rose during the week ending Jan. 10. This was due to a rise in paraxylene feedstock values which were boosted by a reduction in PX operating costs. CFR India PTA was $724/mt on January 10, stable from day to day, and $5/mt higher than the previous week. The material was purchased under a firm offer of $725/mt for Taiwan origin. The average weekly price for CFR India was $720/mt, an increase of $6/mt from week to week. The spread between CFR China & CFR India was reported to be in a range from $70-$90/mt, but most market participants focused on the $70-$80/mt area.
