Asian PTA prices fall due to market expectations of a decline in demand / Source: China PTA operations will reduce by 10% by the end of November. / Some players are seeing restocking before the Lunar New year

The PTA market was down in Asia in the week ending Nov. 29. China's Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange traded lower on PTA Futures throughout the week, except on Nov. 29 when futures increased due to higher crude. PTA FOB China was assessed at $625/mt on Nov. 29. FOB China offers for December were at $680/mt. A major PTA participant said this week that the outlook for PTA in China was particularly bleak. In the past week, news broke that textile downstream plants reduced their operations by around 7%. There was also news about a reduction in the PTA operation rate within China from 92% to 82%.
