The price of Asian purified terephthalic acids CFR China and CFR India increased in the week ending June 28 as a result of stronger markets upstream. PTA operations rates in China are a focus for market participants as they expect paraxylene inventory levels to have a direct effect on operations in the second half. Market sources say that PX prices are volatile due to the expectation of a possible reduction in operation rates by polyester producers.
