India PTA: Falling on a week; CFR China India spread stable / Container unavailability, high freights unrelenting: sources / Downstream polyester demand quite subdued: sources

Prices of purified terephthalic acids fell in the week ending December 6, following the price declines of paraxylene, the feedstock. The spread between CFR China & CFR India also remained the same as Indian importers continued to be plagued by container shortages and high freight costs. CFR India PTA was $692/mt on Dec. 6, unchanged on the day but $5/mt down on the week. The average weekly price was $695/mt. This is down $0.40/mt compared to a week ago. The spread between CFR China & CFR India was $72/mt on Dec. 6 - unchanged since Nov. 29. The wider market consistently confirmed the spread indications of $70-$75/mt throughout the week.
