PTA producers are again facing a growing inventory in China, which may lead to a slight decrease in operating rates in the short term. PTA CFR China was $752/mt, up $3/mt for the day. PTA CFR China was $753.80/mt in the week ending July 26, a $6.40/mt decrease. A China-based trader reported that PTA stocks in China had decreased from 2.22 million mt the previous week to 2.26 million. A PTA producer from North Asia stated that while the stockpiles in ports are still small, this support may not last for long and could have only a minimal impact on spot prices. The producer said, "I assume PTA producers need to reduce operation rates." The producer said that any hesitation in slowing down PTA operation rates would severely affect margins...
