Asian PTA: Weak markets for PET weigh on demand- Oversupply in China amid tepid sales downstream- Polyester margins shrink amid weak demandThe PTA market in Asia fell from week to
week due to the continued oversupply of China. According to market
sources, operating rates in China were 81% during the week. However, demand was
low due to a slowdown in trade in downstream PET. According to a trader from China, PET operating rates may
fall due to a lack in interest by manufacturers of finished goods in the
domestic Chinese market and on export markets. Prices for bottle grade PET and polyester yarn are falling. We think that the current offers are unsustainable due to a
