In the week ending August 8, the Asian PTA market was down. Futures traded on China's Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange were lower at the beginning of the week. Futures prices fell due to a number of factors, including a global stock sell-off that pushed down prices and the perception of lower PTA demands in China and other markets. This undermined confidence on the market. PTA FOB China was assessed at $739/mt on August 8, down $18/mt from the previous week, reflecting a drop in PX and a weak PTA marketplace.
