Asian
paraxylene is up 19/mt for the day to $988/mt, CFR Unv1/China in spite of a
slight drop on crude oil May 19. A source said earlier that day that Asian
PX would be due for a small upward correction as it had fallen too low. On
May 19, PX prices increased despite lower crude. The July ICE Brent
futures contract was assessed at $76.14/b on May 19, down from $75.71/b.
C&F Japan Naphtha remained unchanged at $587.50/mt. Purified
terepthalic acids, or PTAs, were trading higher on China's Zhengzhou Commodity
Exchange (ZCE) during the first and second sessions of the trading day. The
benchmark September ’23 contract rose Yuan 40/mt from day to day, reaching Yuan
