Asian PS: Weaker amid softer demand, lower upstream SM
prices- SM Upstream falls $38/mt in a week- Producers Lower OffersThe polystyrene market was flat or slightly
weaker during the week ending April 26. Producers report that offers from producers are generally
slightly lower than the previous week. Taiwanese
polystyrene producers, both of high-impact and of general purpose polystyrene,
spoke of softening demand. The producer
said that the orders received were "not much" when combined with the
more competitive offers made by producers in China and Southeast Asia, as well
as the softer markets for styrene monmers upstream. Styrene monomer is $1,061/mt at CFR China on April 26. This
is down $38/mt from the previous week. Due
to the long Chinese labor holidays from April 29 through May 3 and some market
participants being on holiday...
