Asian PS: Prices are stable or higher amid unchanged fundamentals and a pickup in SE Asia demand / Buying Interest Improves in SE Asia / China PS and EPS Run Rates Rise on Week

The CFR China prices for general-purpose and high-impact polystyrene remained stable over the past week, at $1,220/mt each and $1,310/mt respectively. According to producers, CFR Southeast Asia's GPPS and HIPS marks are $5/mt higher than the previous week, at $1,245/mt each. CFR China's upstream styrene-monomer marker is now $1,057/mt. This represents a $25.50/mt increase week-on week, after a $76.50/mt drop the week before. The price of styrene has rebounded. We've received more inquiries about prices from Southeast Asia, and our order book also showed improvement this week. A producer stated that freight rates are also expected to rise in the first half November due to the increase in Chinese exports.
