Asian PS: Prices fall on weaker upstream prices / Demand expected to slowdown in December / China PS operating rates fall, EPS rises on week

CFR China general-purpose polystyrene at $1,200/mt on Nov. 27, down $10 on the week, while high-impact polystyrene was assessed at $1,285/mt, down $15 week on week. The CFR SEA general-purpose polystyrene and high-impact polystyrene markers were also assessed at $1,215/mt and $1,300/ mt, down $10 and $15, respectively, on the week, tracking the decline in the CFR China markers. Producers broadly lowered offer levels this week citing weaker upstream crude and SM prices. Furthermore, market sources expected market fundamentals to weaken in the near term. "Demand is expected to slowdown in December, in line with the traditional low season for PS during the end of year period," a producer said.
