Asian PS: Prices steady despite higher upstream costs; weak demand heard / Market fundamentals are still poor / China PS and EPS operating rate up from last week

CFR China's general-purpose polystyrene (GPPS) and high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) prices were stable on Nov. 20, at $1,210/mt et $1,300/mt. "I'm not seeing an improvement in demand so even ifupstream costs have increased, it is difficult for producers to raise offer levels," a market source shared. A market source said that even though upstream costs are higher, it's difficult for producersto raise offer levels. According to market sources, EPS operating rates are at 49.82%. This is up 2.27 percentage points on the previous week.
