CFR China prices for general purpose polystyrene and high impact polystyrene were $1,255/mt & $1,350/mt CFR China respectively on August 14, both $5/mt higher than the previous week. According to market indicators, the spread between CFR SE Asia polystyrene and CFR China was stable at 20/mt. Market participants increased their offers, citing the increase in upstream styrene prices as the reason for the rangebound offer. The upstream CFR China price for styrene was $1,140/mt in August 14, an increase of $18/mt from the previous week. Some market participants increased their offer levels in response to the increase in upstream monomer costs. Others kept their offer levels constant.
