Propylene prices remained stable on May 18
despite low trading volume. Propylene
CFR China unchanged for the day at 875/mt on May 18. At 4:30 pm Singapore time
the July ICE Brent futures contract was $2.25/b higher than the previous Asian
closing at $76.71/b. The gains in crude
oil did not help propylene's battered market. A Chinese buyer stated that there are "too many
cargoes" in China at a time when PDHs were ramping up production. He added
that the weak demand for downstream products and abundant domestic supply are
affecting interest in propylene imports. East
China propylene is down Yuan 25/mt to Yuan 6,550/mt, which comes out at $823/mt
