Asian Propylene prices rebound on strong Chinese demand / Taiwanese producers faces pressure to sell due to weak downstream demand / Southeast Asia has several tenders for sale

The CFR China mark led the rebound in Asian propylene in the week ending Dec. 6. This was due to the strong demand from China, which drove the price up by $15/mt. According to sources, recent surges in Chinese purchasing activity have tightened the supply conditions and driven prices higher. A buyer stated that prices are rising rapidly, and current discussions range between $840 and $845/mt CFR China. The outlook for the rest Asian market is more subdued compared to China's strong demands. Sources said that downstream demand in Taiwan remained weak, and buyers were largely absent. A major Taiwanese manufacturer is experiencing inventory pressure, and actively looking for spot buyers.
