Asian Propylene: Quiet amid low demand / Chinese domestic prices fall / SK Advanced restarts PDH Unit

On March 5, the Asian propylene market was quiet due to a lack of buying interest. Participants reported that the Chinese domestic market was less active, resulting in a lower demand for import cargo. Day over day, prices in East China dropped Yuan 40/mt and reached Yuan 6,900/mt. Sources say that the sluggishness of downstream markets for polypropylene also affected discussions. A China-based trader said, "Demand hasn't really been high, and the near-term prospects for recovery seem bleak. Everyone is cautious." SK Advanced, a South Korean company, has restarted the dehydrogenation unit of its propane plant after maintenance. The plant was scheduled for maintenance on Dec. 16, and its nameplate capacity is 600,000 mt/year.
