Asian propylene was mostly higher on July 5 due to tighter regional supply as a result of plant shutdowns, and increased demand. Market participants reported that Southeast Asia was facing a supply crisis, with plant shutdowns in the region exerting upward pressure. Few sources are confident that prices will be sustained despite the weak margins in downstream. Sources said that South Korean supply continues to be tight due to the weak margins on olefins and low demand.
