Asian Propylene: Prices stable amid mixed sentiments, softer downstream / Japan propylene price falls $5/mt on week / Producers Lower Operating Rates

Asian propylene was largely stable on Aug. 2, as participants had mixed feelings about certain plant closures. Meanwhile, the downstream market continued to soften. Sources said that the sentiment in Taiwanese markets seemed to be softening as downstream demand for polypropylene was weak. Sources in Taiwan said that polypropylene manufacturers were all lowering their production rates, which could lead to an increase in regional propylene supply. Taiwan's CPC Corporation, whose 280,000-mt/year RFCC plant in Dalin was previously scheduled to restart on August 1, according to reports, has been heard returning successfully from turnarounds since Aug. 2.
