Asian propylene was mostly stable on September 25 due to a standstill in the market between buyers and vendors. Propylene is usually in high demand in September. However, this year's season has been less than usual. Sources said that domestic propylene was more competitively priced and this further weakened demand for imported cargoes. Sources on the market said that stimulus measures announced by China’s central bank, as well as a stronger yuan, could boost downstream demand and support the propylene markets. According to market sources, several Chinese propane dehydrogenation facilities are considering lowering production rates because of the increasing cost of propane feedstock, which has reduced margins.
