The European acrylonitrile markets fell in
the week ending June 6, as sentiment deteriorated due to a decline in spot
demand on the continent, and falling prices in Asia. CIF ARA spot price for acrylonitrile was
$1,200/mt. This is down $150/mt from the previous week. The ARA
spot market was relatively quiet with no transactions heard over the past week. Sellers
stated that domestic consumer purchases were limited to contractual obligations,
with little appetite for immediate volumes. This led to a supply shortage on
the spot market. Bids were below $1200/mt from traders, but no
Western European sellers would trade at that level. Trading in
Turkey was upbeat, with a deal for 3,000 mt FOB Turkey being agreed at a price
