Propylene prices remained steady on May 10,
as buyers resisted importing. The
July ICE Brent crude futures contract at 4:30 pm Singapore time (830 GMT) was
up $0.27/b compared to the previous Asian closing at $76.31/lb. The slight increase in crude oil prices did not bring relief
to the propylene market. "Weak Renminbi also dampened purchasing sentiment,"
said a South Korean producer of propylene in reference to how a lower domestic
price in China has affected demand for propylene. East China propylene's domestic price dropped Yuan 170/mt to
Yuan 6,700/mt, or $857/mt CFR China when currency and taxes are taken into
consideration. China's Lihuayi Group will
restart its 260,000-mt/year Shandong province acrylonitrile facility on May 31
