Asian Propylene: Prices Rise on Improved Market Sentiment / Limited Propylene Offers on the Spot Market / China's Sinopec Wuhan will restart steam cracker in early December

Propylene CFR China & FOB Korea Markers rose $5/mt per day, to $825/mt & $790/mt respectively on Nov. 27. This was due to improved market sentiments and purchases made by downstream buyers in China. According to a source in the market, the spot propylene supply from Japan for December was mostly exhausted due to improved interest among downstream buyers in China. A buyer reported that "multiple parcels from Japanese distributors were traded between $820 and $830/mt". A buyer said that producers in South Korea kept their offer prices static despite price fluctuations on the Asian markets. Sinopec Wuhan, a Chinese company, plans to restart the naphtha steam cracker at Wuhan in early December, according to sources within the company. The facility can produce up to 550,000 mt/year.
