In the week ending July 12, Asian propylene prices were stable to firm due to a tight supply in the region. Focus remained on Southeast Asia, where two consecutive weeks of price increases were seen due to short-term disruptions in supply and pockets demand. This also boosted sentiments across other Asian regions. The South Korean market also experienced a tightening of supply due to low operating rates for steam crackers fed with naphtha. This kept FOB Korea pricing stable. A producer commented that it was difficult to obtain [propylene] from Korea or Japan due to the low overall operating rate of South Korean steam crackers.
