In the week leading up to April 5, contract
price negotiations began in Europe for April on the European polystyrene
markets. Producers
expect to see increases of up Eur50-51/mt, depending on the grade. This is in
spite of talk of higher upstream costs. Although
demand remains low, one seller stated that March saw an increase in buying
interest than February and January. He suggested that this was a sign of
"careful signs" of recovery. One
trader stated that buyers were more flexible in their price suggestions due to
concerns about supply after Total Energies' March 22 declaration of force
majeure regarding European polystyrene contract contracts. This was amid
