China's coastal stock down 4.5% in a week / Domestic India prices drop as supply tightness eases

On April 24, amid subdued trade, CFR China methanol was down $1/mt from the previous day to $296/mt. CFR Southeast Asia methanol also fell $1/mt. Market sources reported that the sentiment in China had weakened as Middle East tensions eased. The overall domestic methanol consumption in China also slowed due to weak olefins prices. Longzhong Information Services reported that the coastal methanol inventories along China's eastern and southern coasts dropped 4.5% in a week, to 747.400 mt on April 24. Market sources stated that the decline in methanol inventory did not affect domestic prices. This supported the belief that the fundamentals of the Chinese methanol markets were bearish.
