South Asian PP stable; currency volatility drives away buyers / Indian plant closure in April to help prices / Gap between Buy and Sell Indications Widens - Feb 13, 2025

South Asian polypropylene was stable from week to week on February 12, as the volatile US dollar kept away buyers. Only a few sales were reported, and they were all at high levels. The PP raffia/injection grades at $980/mt CIF South Asia were stable from last week. The tradable indicators were consistently heard at $980/mt for CFR India, but the difference between buying and selling indications was wide. The buy-side indications ranged from $940 to $970/mt, while the selling side indicated between $985 and $1040/mt. A trade source stated that "uninterrupted domestic supply turned buyers to procure local material", adding "I expect the oversupply condition to return in a few months".
