Asian Propylene prices rise amid tighter supplies in China / PDH production cutbacks tighten supply / Wide gap between buy-sell and trading in SE Asia / Taiwan's CPC restarts a naphtha steam-cracker

Asian propylene price rose $5/mt in a week, to $860/mt CFR China on Oct. 18. This was due to tighter supplies in China and production cuts at several units of propane dehydrogenation in Shandong. A buyer reported that producers have increased prices to capitalize on the lower supply. The prices were also supported by stable Chinese domestic price as the sustained interest in buying from Chinese buyers overshadowed downward pressure due to declining upstream costs. Some Asian buyers have expressed concerns about the recent price increases implemented by producers. They cited stagnant downstream polypropylene and lackluster demand.
