In the week ending June 19, Asian polypropylene prices were mixed. Firm upstream costs, rising freight and a lack of buying activity in Southeast Asia all contributed to a range of price levels. China's domestic PP raffia prices rose on the day. This coincided with the firming upstream prices, and the strength of commodities in general, after the US Federal Reserve made its rate decision last weekend. PP homopolymer raffia/injection supplies in China were said to have increased after PP plants resumed scheduled maintenance. Market sources reported that PP plant operation rates had rebounded from 72%-73% to 78%-79% the week before.
