South Asian PP prices fall due to drop in imports and soft demand / The demand remains low due to the monsoon / CFR South Asia Raffia drops to $1,009/mt

South Asia raffia grade is $1,009/mt, down $20/mt from the previous week due to a drop in imports and soft demand. The monsoon has weakened the demand for PP, said an Indian PP vendor, but the festive season, which begins next month, should help to improve the situation. The Indian producer stated that the demand has slowed but is not bad. People have booked a large quantity of PP last month. "We see less impact on the specialized grades as compared to the base grades, which are readily available in India," the producer continued. The Middle East is also down, and domestic prices are still attractive, even after discounts, said an Indian PP purchaser.
