Prices for Asian acrylonitrile were either stable or slightly lower in the week ending September 17 due to slow trading due to holidays in China and Taiwan. Discussions are expected to pick-up by mid-week. The Asian region remained abundant in supply, but the Indian market's demand for non-China origin goods improved during the week ending September 17. India has extended its deadline to implement mandatory Bureau of Indian Standards Certifications for ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymers until October 3 and for Maleic Anhydride, Styrene and Vinyl Benzene. This extension was made on March 18. A Northeast Asian producer stated that Indian buyers have shifted their preferences to non-China cargoes due to the impending implementation of BIS certifications for ACN imports into India.
