Prices of Asian Recycled LDPE are trending up due to increased demand / Virgin Markets Uptrend / Scrap supply is tight

The Asian market for recycled low density polyethylene prices trended up in the week ending Oct. 16. This was in line with the price movement on the virgin markets following the Chinese Golden Week holiday. Asian recycled low density Polyethylene natural film Pellets increased $5/mt from the previous week to $745/mt F.O.B. Southeast Asia on Oct. 16, due to tightening of supply and an increase in buying appetite. Sources said that scrap plastics will be harder to import in most Asian countries due to the government's increased enforcement of the Basel Convention Amendment. The strong US domestic demand for recyclable materials has also reduced the amount of scrap that is available for export.
