The Asian propylene market prices fell in the week ending Nov. 22. This was due to a combination of weak demand, abundant spot supply and a lackluster market. According to market sources, the CFR China mark fell $20/mt on a week-on-week basis at $825/mt Nov. 22 due to increased spot supplies coming from Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, amid weak demand. According to a source, "there is a large amount of domestic Chinese spot supply and an even larger volume of imported supplies entering the market. This puts pressure on prices during negotiations for imported cargoes." A buyer in South Korea said that buyers in Taiwan were cautious as downstream producers struggled with the subdued market.
