South Asian PP prices fall due to drop in imports and soft demand / Demand is still weak due to the monsoon / CFR South Asia Raffia drops to $1,009/mt

South Asia raffia grade is $1,009/mt, down $20/mt from the previous week due to a drop in imports and softer demand. The monsoon has weakened the demand for PP, said an Indian PP vendor, but the festive season, which begins next month, should help to improve the situation. The Indian producer stated: "Demand has slowed but is not in bad shape. People have booked a large quantity last month." The producer said: "We are seeing a lesser impact with specialized grades than the base grades, which are readily available in India." The Middle East is also down, and domestic prices remain attractive after discounts, according to an Indian PP purchaser.
