In the week ending July 17, the Asian recycled high-density polyethylene market declined due to a weakening of buying appetite and uncertain freight conditions. Freight costs and uncertain shipping conditions alsocontinue to hinder buyers from making purchasing decisions,market sources said.For instance, freight rates from Southeast Asia to India wereheard at around $4,100-$5,100 for a 40-foot container, comparedwith around $500-$600/mt in the past, before freight costsstartedrising."It's [freight cost] is very expensive now. "Everyone is waiting," said a manufacturer who was forced to lower prices by around $10-$20/mt due to slow demand.
