markets May 17 because of weak demand. In China, price declines
accelerated for domestic and export offerings as poor performance in the
futures market was compounded by a sharp increase in operation rates at the
country's propane dehydrogenation plants. Market sources said that China's
average PDH operation rate spiked to almost 80% by the end of the first half of
May, from about 60% at the start of the month, driven by low propane prices and
a need to maintain cashflow. "China now faces a situation where
