In the face of persistent weakness in downstream, Asian ethylene markets were thinly traded on September 25. Market sources reported that there were very few bids or offers made on the day due to a lack of urgency in buying. After a recent rebound, the price of styrene-monomer derivatives fell by $19.50/mt in the morning of Sept. 25, affecting market confidence. There is a very low demand for ethylene at the moment as downstream products do not perform well.
