Asian PP prices edge up due to tight supply / Chinese sellers maintain firm to stable offers / SE Asia buyers on guard amid volatile currencies - Feb 17, 2025

Asian PP prices increased in the week ending Feb. 12. This was due to tighter supply and higher upstream costs, despite cautious attitudes among Southeast Asian buyers because of the volatile currency against the dollar. China's domestic PP raffia prices ex-works rose Yuan 50/mt in the past week to Yuan 7,400/mt as market fundamentals improved in East China and North China. Supply tightened as several plants began turnaround. A trader stated that "South China producers seem to be under pressure at the moment to sell cargo." CFR China PP raffia/injection price is up $5/mt from the previous week to $880/mt. This is in line with stronger offers and indications. In Southeast Asia, the market remains subdued and multiple producers are experiencing prolonged shutdowns. This has led to firmer weekly offers....
