Asian Propylene prices stable despite weak demand / Buyers prefer domestic over imported cargo / Weak Chinese buying interest due to squeezed PP/propylene margins

Propylene CFR China remained unchanged at $860/mt on February 12 due to a lack of discussion in China. Several sources said the weak buying interest in China was due to squeezed polypropylene-propylene margins, resulting in subdued trading activity. A buyer said that trade activity in China was healthy and prices were supported. He compared the domestic market to markets denominated in dollars. A buyer stated that sellers maintained firm prices despite low demand due to a limited supply. In South Korea the FOB Korea Market was also quiet due to a large price difference between buyers and vendors.
