Asian Benzene Prices Rise on Support from Upstream Markets / Crude oil increases $3.56/b and naphtha rises $28.50/mt / Typhoon Krathon knocks out power at Linyuan Complex

Asian benzene was assessed at $974.67/mt on Oct. 4, a $23/mt increase, reflecting a strong performance of upstream markets. Upstream, Brent futures rose $3.36/b, to $78.68/b, at the Asian closing, while C+F Japan Naphtha rose $28.50/mt, to $705.25/mt. Crude oil futures rose in midafternoon Asian trading on Oct. 4, amid fears that an escalating Middle East conflict could disrupt shipments. The market activity on both the physical and paper markets was relatively low, as Chinese participants were away for their holidays. Last heard, CFR China cargoes arriving in November were trading at a premium of $35-$40/mt over the weekly Mean of Korea (wMOPK) for November.
