Asian Propylene prices fall amid abundant supply and weak demand / CFR SE Asia Propylene Down $30/mt in a Week / Southeast Asian propylene supplies heard boosted

Asian propylene fell on Sept. 6 as the polypropylene downstream market performed poorly, affecting the entire region's propylene industry. Southeast Asian prices suffered the most, as the CFR Southeast Asia indicator fell $30/mt in a week to $830/mt by the Asian close on Sept. 6. Market sources say that the shrinking margins of polypropylene buyers could be driving down propylene consumption. A Southeast Asian source stated that PrefChem had released two [sell] bids, which further pushed down prices as regional supply was plentiful. The Taiwanese markets softened due to CPC's inability to restart its residue fluid catalytic unit in Dalin.
