The Asian ethylene assessment remained
unchanged at $820/mt for NE Asia on May 31 and $870/mt for SE Asia. On May 30, it was reported
that a deal had been completed on a floating basis in Northeast Asia. Market buyers are still displaying a bearish attitude as
they worry about unhealthy margins in downstream products, such as styrene. Poor demand is attributed to a variety of macroeconomic
factors such as high interest rate, volatile upstream price, and a weaker than
expected recovery in demand from China's opening. Sources on the market have expressed concern over the
volatility of the market and uncertainty in light of volatile naphtha upstream
