US EDC/VCM prices hold steady amid thin discussion / Olin's lifting of force majeure is not expected to impact the supply immediately / Trading activity is low due to a decline in PVC exports

EDC: Prices for export spot ethylene dichloride remained stable during the week ending September 3, despite ongoing negotiations. US spot export EDC at $240/mt FOM USG September 3, stable on the week amid no disproving indicators and taking market feedback into consideration of price stability. On August 28, the major producer Olin Corp. lifted systemwide force majeure for chlor-alkali at its Freeport facility in Texas. Initial force majeure was declared on July 10 following Hurricane Beryl's damages. Other producers have been heard to have filled Olin's share of the market, despite limited export activity. One source on the market also said that lifting the force majeure might not have an immediate impact on supply as operations are only partially restored.
