EDC: Asian Ethylene Dichloride was
unchanged from week February 23rd, as low buying levels offset a supported
upstream. CFR Northeast Asia ethylene prices
rose by $30/mt, with the upstream price rising to $940/mt on Feb. 23. Due to high
ethylene feedstock prices, the selling idea was still over $300-320/mt CFR Far
East Asia. Buyers, on the other hand chose to wait and see
as the downstream market began to show weakness. One regional
producer stated that "US-origin cargoes were diverted to other countries,
so Asia's supply will likely remain tight until April or May." VCM: The
Asian vinyl chloride monomer was slightly stable week over week February 23,
but overall market fundamentals remained poor. The week of
February 20 saw weakness in downstream polyvinyl chloride....
