Stronger benzene worries phenol producers / Acetone prices in Asia remain stable due to a tight supply

Phenol: Asian prices for phenol are up by $5/mt per week, to $925/mt CFR China on June 4. East China's domestic prices have also increased and now stand at around Yuan 7,850/mt or $908.64/mt based on import parity. A producer in North Asia stated that upstream prices continued to be much higher and were impacting phenol prices. The producer stated that "benzene prices are going up and phenol prices are going down." The same producer reported that phenol from China was sold at a good price to South Korean buyers, but no further details were available. India's domestic phenol ex-tank prices were steady to firmer during the week that began June 2, continuing weekly gains in benzene.
