Weak demand in China and Southeast Asia
caused the Asian polypropylene price to fall week-on-week on May 17. Prices in China fell for
both domestic and export products as a result of a poor performance on the
futures markets. This was exacerbated by the rapid increase in the operation
rate at the country's dehydrogenation plant. Sources on the market said China's average PDH operating
rate jumped to nearly 80% at the end of first half of may, up from 60% in the
beginning of the month. This was due to low propane prices, and the need to
maintain cashflow. China is now in a
