Sources said that while Asian paraxylene prices were
stable March 31, they will continue to be affected by tight supply. Asian paraxylene remained
unchanged at $1,102-1,122/mt CFR UNV1/China on March 31. Traders said that the main reason for the price rise is
likely to be tight supply in the Asian market for PX, particularly for May
delivery cargoes. A number of turnarounds
in Asia are limiting supply of PX, even though downstream demand in China is
still slow to recover. According to a
trader in China, prices could begin to fall as more PX plants finish
turnarounds and new plants are built in China. Industry sources claim that the April paraxylene Asian
Contract Price reached a significant settlement of $1,085/mt CFR...
