The price of Asian toluene was lower on
April 26 due to thin spot discussions. Cues came from the weakening crude
oil futures. Other participants did not make
counter offers. "Crude was down last night, but sellers are
unlikely to sell for a lower price." Spot cargoes
are scarce or non-existent for May due to low run rates in Southeast Asia.
Turnarounds in Northeast Asia were also underway, according to trading
source. "Heard that there was no shipment [of South
Korea-origin] of mixed xylenes or toluene to India in May... due to] poor
demand." Sources in the industry said that there was a
lot of stock and prices were falling. Selling indicators for June arrival
cargoes ranged from FOB...
