The CFR Far East Asia fell by $40/mt over the week of March 11 and the CFR Southeast Asia was at $1260/mt. This is due to the persistent weakness on the Chinese domestic market, which resulted in a subdued activity in the Asian market. Chinese domestic prices fell by around Yuan 300/mt week-on-week, to Yuan 8,700-8800/mt in March 11. The sharp drop in Chinese prices has prompted buyers into caution. Due to this, trading activity during the week was limited. A market source stated that "Chinese producers price cuts have eroded buyer confidence and created skepticism about current market prices."
